Soccer balls are regulated by FIFA – Football Australia (FA) for the Australian market - for size, weight, bounce, shape and should fit within specific guidelines. Each of our states have slightly different age groups per size. Here we discuss the info you need to know in simple terms.

While official soccer ball size and weight remain consistent, the information below outlines current FIFA and Football Australia regulations to help you choose the perfect ball for each age group. We've also included a simplified guide to selecting the appropriate ball size based on age.
Match and Training Footballs are available in size 5, size 4, size 3 and designed for different ages. So which one is right for you?
There are Three Age Dedicated Soccer Ball Size:

There are also two mini balls (sizes 2 and 1) - considered more fun or skills-based balls and not used for training or playing football matches.

If you are training or playing matches, it is important that you are using good quality balls. This should mean that you are using the correct size, weight, bounce and feel for your age/skill.

FIFA Quality Program gives specific info around quality and measurment of size 5 soccer balls
The FIFA have all the details HERE at IFAB (international football association board). To summarise, IFAB states a Football Must Be:
- Spherical
- Made of suitable material
- Of a circumference of between 68 cm (27 ins) and 70 cm (28 ins)
- Between 410 g (14 oz) and 450 g (16 oz) in weight at the start of the match
- Of a pressure equal to 0.6–1.1 atmosphere (600–1,100g/cm2) at sea level (8.5 lbs/sq in–15.6 lbs/sq in)
